All teams are required to play in the district qualifier if they want to play in the district championship tournament.
All teams must register their team’s complete roster online for the qualifier and the championship. This can be done online at www.minnesotaaau.org. This is mandatory for ALL TEAMS in 2010.
ENTRY DEADLINE: The entry deadline for the qualifier is May 10th, 2010. Teams must have their rosters online by this deadline, NO EXCEPTIONS.
ENTRY FEES: Payment for the qualifier and the championship must be sent to the MN AAU office or paid by credit card by the entry deadline of the specified tournament. If the MN AAU office does not have your team’s entry fee by the deadline, your team will not play in that tournament, NO EXCEPTIONS. All entry fees must be paid with a certified check or money order and be made out to MN AAU, or with a credit card with the on line system.
FORMAT FOR THE DISTRICT QUALIFIER:
To the best of MN AAU’s ability, teams will be placed in pool play first going into bracket play.
If your age division has 8 or more teams, only the top 8 will automatically qualify for the district championship – only the top 8 will advance to the district championship. The top 8 teams that advance to the championship will be seeded into the championship determined by the place they finished in the qualifier.
If your team does not finish in the top 8, your team will be placed in a Division 1A category or placed in Division II category if there is not already a Division II category in your age group.
Teams in the Division 1A category will not be able to advance to nationals, but will be allowed to play for a Division 1A tournament championship. If there is not a Division II category in your age group, your team will play for a Division II championship and a chance to advance to Division II Nationals.
NOTICE:
If your team needs special attention to scheduling game times, please notify McCain Rosonke in advance at mccain@aausports.org or call the MN AAU office 952.988.6733.
Please keep in mind there will be multiple teams with multiple requests. Understand not all requests will be met even if you notify in advance. The schedule will not change just because you are not happy with your scheduled times – PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
