Girls’ Basketball District Championship

All teams are required to play in the district qualifier if they want to play in the district championship tournament. All teams must register their team’s complete roster online for the qualifier and the championship. This can be done online at, http://www.minnesotaaau.org/, this is mandatory for ALL TEAMS in 2010. The entry deadline for the championship is April 24th, 2010. Teams must have their rosters online by this deadline, NO EXCEPTIONS. All teams must register, even if you automatically qualified for the championship by finishing in the top 8 from the qualifier. Payment for the championship must be sent to the MN AAU office or done on line by the entry deadline. If the MN AAU office or on line system does not have your team’s entry fee by the deadline, your team will not play in that tournament, NO EXCEPTIONS. All entry fees must be paid by credit card on line or with a certified check or money order and be made out to MN AAU.

FORMAT FOR THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

To the best of MN AAU’s ability, teams will be placed in bracket play. The top 8 teams that advance to the championship will be seeded into the championship by what place they finished in the qualifier. If your team did not finish in the top 8, your team will be placed in a Division 1A category or placed in Division II category if there is not an already Division II category in your age group. Teams in the Division 1A category will not be able to advance to nationals, but will be allowed to play for a Division 1A tournament championship. If there is not a Division II category in your age group, your team will play for a Division II championship and a chance to advance to Division II Nationals. The number of teams that advance to nationals depends on the number of teams that played in your age division at the qualifier. More information about advancing to nationals can be found by clicking here.

NOTICE

If your team needs special attention to scheduling game times, please notify McCain Rosonke at mccain@aausports.org or call the M N AAU office 952.988.6733. Please keep in mind there will be multiple teams with multiple requests. Understand not all requests will be met even if you notify in advance. The schedule will not change just because you are not happy with your scheduled times – PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
